Welcome to Future of Reading. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Future of Reading learning platform, including all associated content, services, and software. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
- Description of Services Future of Reading, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation, provides a comprehensive early literacy program designed to empower K-3 students to read proficiently, aligned with the Science of Reading. Our services include:
- Curriculum: The “Learn to Read Literacy Series” workbooks, covering foundational skills (Courses 1-6), introduction to vowel teams (Courses 7), expanded vowel teams (Course 8), and intermediate reading, comprehension, and writing skills (Courses 9-12).
- Video Lesson Library: Over 350 explicit video lessons, offering tutoring-style instruction for each page in the foundational skills workbooks, accessible 24/7 via an internet-connected device.
- Learning Management System (LMS): A platform for accessing courses and tracking student progress.
- Assessments: Baseline, Checkpoint, and Progress Assessments to measure literacy skills, track student progress, and inform individualized instruction and Personalized Literacy Plans.
- Support: Guidance from supervising teachers, reading coaches, and program support for students and parents.
- User Accounts and Access
- Unique Login Credentials: Each student receives a unique login ID and password to access their assigned video lesson content and track progress.
- Access for Support Personnel: Reading coaches, supervising teachers, and school administrators will also be provided with access to relevant student progress data and program materials to support student learning and monitor efficacy.
- Parental Access: Parents can access the video lesson library using their child’s unique login ID to support their child’s learning journey.
- Account Responsibility: Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for all activities that occur under their account.
- Intellectual Property Rights All content provided through the Future of Reading program, including but not limited to workbooks, video lessons, text, graphics, images, and software, is the property of Startup Learning or its content suppliers and is protected by copyright laws.
- Limited License: Future of Reading grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the services and content for personal, non-commercial educational purposes in accordance with these Terms of Use.
- Restrictions: No part of any book or course content may be reproduced in any form, including, but not limited to, storage in a retrieval system or transmission in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopied, scanned, downloaded, recorded or otherwise without prior written permission. You may not use any content for commercial purposes without explicit written consent.
- Acceptable Use You agree not to use the Future of Reading services to:
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
- Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of Future of Reading or third parties.
- Transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, or any other form of solicitation.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the services or the data contained therein.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the services or its related systems or networks.
- Data Privacy Your privacy is important to us. Our data collection and usage practices are detailed in our separate Data Privacy Policy, which outlines how we protect user data, including student assessment data (anonymized for aggregate reporting) and the use of unique student IDs for progress tracking.
- Disclaimer of Warranties The Future of Reading services are provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties, express or implied. While we strive for high efficacy, we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- Limitation of Liability To the fullest extent permitted by law, Future of Reading shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the services; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the services; or (c) unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content.
- Termination Future of Reading reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the services at its sole discretion, without notice, for any conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Use or is harmful to other users of the services or third parties.
- Governing Law These Terms of Use shall be governed by the laws of State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
- Changes to Terms Future of Reading reserves the right to modify or revise these Terms of Use at any time. We will notify users of any significant changes by posting the new Terms of Use on our website. Your continued use of the services after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
